South
Africa truly is a world within one country! Its larger
than France and Spain combined and stretches from
the temperate Cape to the subtropical northern regions
bordering with Zimbabwe and Mozambique. In the boundaries
of South Africa are some of the world's most breathtaking
landscapes; canyons, wildernesses showcasing game
and cliffs dropping to the ocean.
A
destination that exudes a multi-cultural charm that
is unrivalled and often misunderstood. Visit the beautiful
Cape Winelands, Garden Route Area or the awe-inspiring
beaches in Durban and you will soon realise that this
African country is not to be forgotten.
Take
three capital cities, eleven official languages, the
most amazing wildlife experiences in the world, cutting
edge cuisine using only the freshest of ingredients,
the warmest and friendliest of people, and scenery
around every corner that will take your breath away.
Welcome to South Africa!
The
Western Cape
Mediterranean in climate, European in culture and
African in mood. Cape Town is dominated by the towering
shape of Table Mountain, topped with its fleecy table-cloth
cloud. The Mother City is justifiably
famous for its restaurants, graceful hotels, vibrant
arts and easy-going atmosphere. Inland, the vineyards
that carpet the rolling landscapes of Franschhoek,
Paarl and Stellenbosch, liberally sprinkled with Cape
Dutch mansions, are easily explored by car. The Garden
Route runs east along Africas southern coast.
Starting in Cape Town, windswept cliffs and sandy
bays, sheltered forests and folded mountains are all
awaiting exploration.
The
Northern Cape
Wide open spaces and an amazing coastline, the Northern
Cape is waiting to be explored. Home to the ancient
San people, the region has a colourful history. Each
year the Namaqualand area is transformed by blankets
of beautiful flowers covering the hillsides.
Eastern
Cape
The second largest of South Africas nine provinces,
the Eastern Cape has something for everyone; see the
Big Five in a malarial-free environment, surf the
largest waves or bungee jump from the highest bungee
bridge in the southern hemisphere.
KwaZulu
Natal
Known as the Kingdom of the Zulu, KwaZulu Natal is
a melting pot of African, European and Indian cultures.
This province boasts two World Heritage sites
the Greater St Lucia Wetland Park and the Ukhahlamba
Drakensberg Park. Many of the wars that shaped the
colonial years took place in the Natal area, battlefields
atmospheric in the sub-tropical heat. It is also a
province of natural beauty with the coastline harbouring
sandy beaches, lagoons and national reserves.
Gauteng
Although it is the smallest of the countrys
nine provinces, Gauteng is the gateway to Southern
Africa. Johannesburg, Soweto and Pretoria create a
cosmopolitan, multicultural mix from every corner
of the world.
Mpumalanga
As well as having the third highest canyon in the
world and the world's oldest cave, Mpumalanga is the
best place to view wildlife. Kruger National Park,
with its large concentration of big cats, is where
you will find the Big Five: lion, leopard,
rhino, elephant and buffalo.
Limpopo
Named after the great Limpopo River that flows along
its northern border, this province is rich in wildlife,
spectacular scenery and a wealth of historical and
cultural treasures. From Northern Kruger Park, to
incredible mountain ranges, Limpopo offers great diversity.
North
West
North West province has the Big Five at Madikwe and
Pilanesberg Game Reserves, fantastic bird-life and
wide-open African skies. It also boasts archaeological
discoveries that go back to the beginnings of humankind.
